Sternfenster boosts installer skills with in-house Training Academy

With installers facing increasing pressure to deliver high-quality workmanship, manage customer expectations and complete projects efficiently, Nathan Court, Chief Sales Officer at Sternfenster, explains how the company’s Training Academy is helping trade customers develop their technical skills and confidence.
For window and door installers, technical knowledge and practical experience are essential to delivering successful installations.
As product ranges evolve and homeowners expect consistently high standards, access to specialist training can help businesses improve efficiency, strengthen their teams and maintain customer satisfaction.
Sternfenster’s dedicated Training Academy gives its trade customers the opportunity to develop hands-on installation skills, improve product knowledge and learn practical techniques from experienced industry professionals.
Nathan Court, Chief Sales Officer at Sternfenster, believes training plays an important role in supporting installers and helping them build successful businesses.
He said: “Installers need confidence in the products they’re fitting and the techniques they’re using.”
“Having access to practical training gives them an opportunity to strengthen their skills, ask questions and develop knowledge they can apply directly to their everyday work.”
Available exclusively to Sternfenster customers, the Academy offers practical sessions covering the installation, adjustment and maintenance of PVC-U and aluminium windows and doors.
Sessions combine technical guidance with hands-on activities, allowing participants to practise installation procedures, explore product adjustments and develop solutions to common on-site challenges.
The Academy covers three main areas: bifold doors, casement windows and residential doors.
Bifold door training includes assembling doors from kit form, glazing, correct toe and heeling, and adjustments to hinges and locking mechanisms.
Installers can also learn how to replace sashes, re-bead bifold sashes and change hinges and rollers.
For casement windows, sessions cover PVC-U and aluminium installation techniques, including glazing, toe and heeling, hinge and lock adjustments, re-beading and applying duplex bars.
Door training focuses on PVC-U residential and patio doors, aluminium residential and patio doors, and aluminium shopline doors with side screens.
Participants receive practical guidance on glazing, adjustment procedures and correct installation techniques.
“Every installation presents different considerations, and having the right knowledge can make a significant difference when challenges arise,” Nathan continued.
“Our Academy gives installers the chance to work through practical scenarios with an experienced engineer. That knowledge can help them resolve issues more efficiently, reduce unnecessary return visits and deliver a better experience for homeowners.”
For installation businesses, the benefits extend across their wider operations. Improved technical knowledge can support more consistent workmanship, help newer employees develop their skills and give experienced installers greater confidence when working with unfamiliar products.
The Academy also provides an opportunity for installers to engage directly with Sternfenster’s technical team, strengthening communication and helping the fabricator better understand the challenges its customers encounter on site.
With more than 50 years of industry experience, Sternfenster continues to invest in services that support its trade customers, including digital business tools, technical expertise and dedicated customer support.
Nathan believes that providing accessible, practical training is an important part of maintaining those relationships.
“When our customers have the skills and confidence to complete installations efficiently, everyone benefits,” he concluded.
“We want installers to feel supported throughout their relationship with Sternfenster. By sharing our technical expertise and helping them develop their teams, we’re contributing to stronger businesses and better outcomes for their customers.”
Sternfenster’s Training Academy sessions are available exclusively to trade customers.
