New window and door repair business set up by industry veteran

New business Winfix Domestic and Commercial Window and Door Repairs initially covering Essex has been set up by David Still, industry veteran with 38 years’ experience to fill a gap in the market.

David said: “I’m bringing together decades of experience to focus on what I do best: repairing and restoring. My aim is simple — to provide a reliable service that customers can trust, whether it’s in their home or business.
“I first stepped into the glazing trade back in 1987 as a young apprentice. Like many who start out, I was eager to learn, and I worked my way up through the different stages of the industry. From those early days, I gained hands-on experience and built the skills that would later become the foundation of my career.

“Over the years, I progressed from apprentice to fabricator, then into roles with more responsibility such as supervisor and foreman. At times, circumstances forced me to start again from the bottom, but that never stopped me. I even turned my hand to making sealed units and experimenting with decorative fan light artwork, always pushing myself to keep learning.

“Working alongside so many different people in the glazing trade has shaped me just as much as the work itself. The trade is full of hard-working individuals, each with their own stories, challenges, and achievements. It’s more than just windows and doors — it’s a community built on skills, craftsmanship, and resilience.

“From my first day as an apprentice right through to today, the glazing industry has been my life. It’s been a journey of graft, setbacks, achievements, and pride — and I’m still just as passionate about it now as I was back in 1987.”
