Consort recently welcomed a young visitor into its maintenance department as part of a hands-on work experience initiative, reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of talent in the fenestration industry.

Bobby, the son of Consort’s Marketing Executive Lucy Fletcher and stepson of Carl Fletcher, Consort’s Maintenance Lead, spent time alongside skilled engineers and fabricators, gaining valuable insight into the operations that underpin Consort’s daily production.

“Giving young people the opportunity to see how our industry works in practice is incredibly valuable,” said Lucy Fletcher, Marketing Executive at Consort. “It’s more than just a week of shadowing, it’s about sparking curiosity, building real-world confidence, and helping them visualise a career they may not have previously considered.”

Consort continues to place a strong focus on nurturing future talent through work placements, apprenticeships, and skills development programmes. The company aims to provide young people with the chance to explore practical career paths, connect with experienced mentors, and build a clearer understanding of opportunities within manufacturing, engineering, and the wider construction sector.

“This kind of early exposure can be instrumental in shaping future career decisions,” Lucy added. “By connecting young individuals with experienced mentors and giving them a taste of the practical, hands-on aspects of what we do, we hope to foster a new generation of talent that will carry the industry forward.”

The initiative is part of a broader strategy at Consort to invest in long-term workforce sustainability and strengthen the future of the fenestration sector. By offering meaningful engagement and sharing expertise, the company seeks to play a proactive role in ensuring the industry remains vibrant and future-ready.

“We see it as our responsibility to contribute to the future of fenestration,” Lucy said. “By nurturing interest and sharing knowledge today, we’re helping to secure not only the future of Consort, but of the UK manufacturing sector as a whole.”

Consort says it plans to continue offering work experience placements and development opportunities, further embedding its role as a champion of young talent within the industry.
