Ecoglass scores a hat-trick of G Award nominations

Roger Middleton of Ecoglass

Ecoglass has been shortlisted for three categories in this year’s G Awards, including Glass Company of the Year, Rising Star, and Unsung Hero.

The company is one of only two finalists for Glass Company of the Year, which it says recognises its commitment to quality, sustainability and people. The Rising Star nomination celebrates the dedication and continued growth of Craig Hopper, while a special Unsung Hero commemoration honours the late Colin Sturdy, who the company says was a true bedrock of the business.

“Our people are the backbone of our success,” said Roger Middleton, Managing Director. “As a family-owned company, we have such a rich legacy. I started working in the business in 1964, and today we have three generations of our family working here, alongside team members who have been with us for 25, 30, even 50 years. That loyalty is what makes Ecoglass the company it is today.”

He added: “These nominations celebrate our people and our shared commitment to always going the extra mile. I’m incredibly proud of everything our team has achieved, and of their constant drive to do better; for our people, our customers, and our environment.”

The nomination for Glass Company of the Year was led by Mark High, Commercial Director, who reportedly brought a refreshed strategic approach to Ecoglass following his appointment in April 2024.

“Coming from a corporate background gave me the perspective to help shape Ecoglass for its next phase of growth,” said Mark. “By sharpening our focus on production optimisation, increased customer satisfaction and commercial alignment, we’ve been able to drive sustainable growth and create opportunities for a new generation of talent in the business.”

Rounding off the nominations, Ecoglass is celebrating the continued growth and contributions of Craig Hopper, who stepped into the role of Key Account Manager earlier this year. Craig has reportedly been instrumental in building agile client partnerships that provide shorter lead times, a more hands-on approach, and significantly lower delivery-related emissions.

One of his initiatives has been to localise the customer base. Craig has helped to reduce Ecoglass’s carbon footprint while supporting local enterprise, aligning perfectly with the company’s broader sustainability ethos.

Finally, the Unsung Hero nomination honours the late Colin Sturdy, who dedicated more than 50 years to the company. His values continue to shape Ecoglass today.

“We live his values every day, in how we put customers first, and in the kindness we show one another,” added Roger. “Though he never sought the spotlight, Colin was, and always will be, our unsung hero.”

The winners of this year’s G Awards will be announced in London on 28 November.
