Sioned Yates, Founder of Access Marketing, discusses the first year of the business, and how she is starting Year Two with energy, growth, and a lot of Gratitude.

Access Marketing is officially one year old! I can hardly believe how much has happened since I decided to go out on my own and start this adventure. It was quite daunting at first, but with my husband and family supporting me and pushing me on, I finally took the leap and made my dream happen.

When I first launched Access Marketing, I was absolutely blown away by all the support and kind words from old colleagues, friends, and so many people in the industry. It made me even more convinced that this was the right move for me and remind me why I love this industry so much. For me, this industry isn’t just about products and projects—it’s about the extraordinary people who give so much of themselves, striving to make our sector better.

Over the past year, I’ve been lucky enough to grow my business with some truly fantastic clients, many of whom have become good friends. They’ve put their trust in me to help shape their sales and marketing strategies, and together we’ve already seen some great results. My aim has always been to share what I know, keep things practical, simple and actually deliver results, drawing on my years of experience in the fenestration, construction and building materials industries.

I love working with business owners who have a “let’s do this” attitude—people who are open to change, want to improve, and aren’t afraid to try new things. I see myself as part of their team, working alongside them so we can succeed together.

Of course, running your own business comes with its fair share of nerves, doubts, and the occasional bout of imposter syndrome. As I kick off year two, I’m trying to learn to accept those feelings—they’re just part of the journey! I’m always adjusting what I do based on what my clients need, and I know I’ll keep growing and learning along the way.

My work is always evolving. Whether I’m helping businesses get a clearer picture of their market, figure out who their ideal customers are, or set up proper communication plans, I’m all about driving real results. I also help owners make sense of their marketing—working out what they’re spending, how many leads they’re getting (and are they good quality), what’s converting, and whether the tactics are actually paying off.

Implementing clear structure and direction in sales and marketing activities has also been a big part of my work. I’ve developed straightforward frameworks that help business owners manage their performance and execute what’s needed to succeed.

It’s been insightful to work closely with installers and fabricators, learning about the challenges they face in their sales and marketing functions. Many owners want to know what value they’re getting from their marketing spend, and often, they find themselves overwhelmed by agency demands and the fast pace of digital tools. My value lies in removing the stress of marketing, allowing them to focus on running their businesses while benefiting from my expertise, knowledge, and passion for success.

Since starting Access Marketing, I’ve also had some amazing new opportunities, such as being a judge for the GGP Installer Awards and the G Awards— I’ve loved every minute. And this October, I’ll be chairing the apprentices in action panel debate at the Glazing Summit, which I’m really looking forward to. It’s a fantastic chance to learn from others, share experiences, and celebrate all the brilliant things happening in our sector.

As I head into year two, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone in the industry who’s been there for me. Your support means the world. Here’s to another year of growth, collaboration, and making things happen together!
