Hörmann Truedor is inviting entrance door installers to discover a new business growth opportunity at its upcoming roadshows, featuring its range of composite doors, backed by significant consumer marketing investment and a comprehensive package of dealer support.

At the series of dedicated roadshows to be held across the UK, Hörmann Truedor will outline how its latest initiative is designed not only to expand installers’ product portfolios, but to actively generate homeowner enquiries and pass qualified leads directly to approved dealers.

Installers are invited to join the Hörmann Truedor team for an informal early morning get-together over coffee and bacon sandwiches, where the focus will be firmly on new business opportunities.

The events will introduce the opportunity to add the Hörmann Truedor range of composite doors to existing product ranges.

At the heart of the initiative is Hörmann’s investment in a targeted consumer campaign designed to drive traffic to its website and generate genuine homeowner enquiries.

These enquiries will then be passed directly to approved dealers via an online Installer Finder, delivering a clear commercial advantage for those looking to grow sales.

The company has also put in place a range of practical sales tools and support to help installers convert enquiries into confirmed orders, including an advanced online Door Designer, Installer Finder visibility, product training and ongoing marketing and technical assistance – ensuring installers are fully equipped to maximise every lead generated.

Alongside the longer-term growth opportunity, installers attending will be able to take advantage of a package of launch incentives. These include a £1,500 door voucher package, a sign-up bonus of 750 points for the Hörmann Rewards programme and free use of the Door Designer for the first year.

Dealers will also benefit from access to the new locking cylinder and hardware options to further enhance their entrance door offering.

The roadshows will take place between 8.00 and 10.00 am at the following venues:

Tuesday 19 May, Leicester – The Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium, home of Leicester Tigers

Tuesday 2 June, Edinburgh – The Norton House Hotel, Ingliston

A lack of construction professionals could derail plans to deliver low-carbon housing, experts have warned in a new report from home improvement specialist Eurocell.

Eurocell’s State of Sustainable Construction 2026 report brings together housing market analysis with insight from industry and academic contributors to assess the sector’s readiness for upcoming regulatory and retrofit demands. While the report focuses on housing standards and delivery, contributors warn that skills and workforce capacity remain a critical constraint.

Dr Patricia Xavier, Programme Lead for the BSc Construction Management degree at NMITE, who contributed to the report, said the industry is approaching a tipping point:

“We are at a critical point where we are losing experienced people who can’t pass on their skills and mentoring to the new generation. We need a bird’s-eye view of the skills needed, aligning sector-wide training in a way that is equitable across the country, before this intellectual capital retires out of the industry.”

Eurocell’s analysis in the State of Sustainable Construction 2026 report highlights that the scale of low-carbon housing delivery now being discussed, including retrofit programmes and higher standards for new homes, will place additional pressure on an already stretched workforce. The report identifies a growing gap between rising policy ambition and the practical capacity to deliver, particularly in terms of trained people on the ground.

It also highlights that skills linked to energy efficiency, retrofit, low-carbon heating and building performance are particularly exposed, with smaller firms and regional supply chains often finding it hardest to access training and upskilling opportunities.

The report concludes that while regulation and funding will play a major role in shaping the future of housing, progress will also depend on retaining experience, improving knowledge transfer and building a clearer, more coordinated approach to skills development across the sector. Without that focus, the industry risks losing further capacity at a point when housing delivery and decarbonisation demands are accelerating.

Martin Benn, Head of New Build at Eurocell, said: “Skills are now one of the biggest constraints on delivering low-carbon housing at scale. As standards rise and retrofit activity accelerates, the industry needs confidence that training, accreditation and on-site capability can grow at the same pace. Without that, even well-intentioned policy risks falling short at the point of delivery.”

The full findings are available in Eurocell’s State of Sustainable Construction 2026 report.

Clayton Glass’ new Triple28 triple-glazed sealed unit has been announced as the Headline Sponsor for this year’s Glazing Summit, taking place at the Coventry Building Society Arena on 8 October 2026.

With this year’s agenda reportedly firmly focused on the evolution of triple glazing, Clayton Glass said triple glazing has been talked about as the future, but are now looking forward to shaping these conversations, starting on 8 October.

Triple28 is said to have been engineered to deliver triple-glazing performance within a standard 28mm glazing profile. Designed to fit within existing double-glazing systems, Triple28 allows installers to upgrade from double to triple glazing simply by replacing the sealed unit, without needing to change window frames or glazing beads.

Traditionally, triple glazing has required deeper profiles and significantly heavier units, limiting its compatibility with many window systems. Triple28™ has been developed to overcome these challenges, enabling installers to offer the benefits of triple glazing within the standard 28mm window constructions widely used across the UK.

At the heart of the innovation is an advanced construction featuring a 100% glass monolithic core, meaning all three panes are fully recyclable while allowing Clayton Glass to achieve triple-glazing performance in a slimmer and lighter format than conventional triple-glazed units.

With a U-value of 0.8, Triple28 is designed to deliver up to 90% greater thermal efficiency compared with standard double-glazed units, helping homeowners reduce heat loss while improving comfort and energy performance.

Despite its triple-glazed construction, the unit is only marginally heavier than a standard double-glazed unit, making it practical for installation within existing frames and ideal for retrofit upgrade projects where replacing the full window would traditionally be required.

A laminated version of Triple28 is also available, offering improved acoustic performance and increased resistance to breakage for enhanced security. Triple28™ represents a significant investment by Clayton Glass in new glazing technology, designed to give installers a clear and valuable upgrade option when helping homeowners improve the energy efficiency and performance of their windows.

Ryan Green, Managing Director at Clayton Glass, said: “Triple glazing has traditionally required deeper window systems and heavier units, which has limited its adoption in many installations. Triple28 has been developed to solve that challenge by delivering triple-glazing performance within a standard 28mm sealed unit. Installers can upgrade the glass without changing the frame or profile, making it a straightforward way to deliver higher thermal performance for homeowners.

“It also gives installers a genuine additional product benefit to offer customers who want improved energy efficiency without the disruption and cost of replacing their existing windows.

“Triple28 opens up new opportunities for installers to deliver higher-performance glazing upgrades while keeping installation straightforward and cost-effective.”

Amid proposed reforms to the apprenticeship system, the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has stepped up its engagement with government to safeguard the competence framework underpinning safe construction practices.

From April 2026, the Apprenticeship Levy will transition into a new Growth & Skills Levy, designed to provide employers with greater flexibility in how they invest in workforce training.

Designed to streamline the system and increase apprenticeship uptake across the UK, the reforms are expected to allow funding to be used more widely for modular, shorter, and targeted skills programmes, alongside changes to end-point assessment structures.

While increasing participation is widely supported, sectors that deliver critical building elements, including glazing and fenestration systems, have expressed concern.

Reducing independent assessment could dilute training standards and weaken competence frameworks essential to safe construction.

The GGF has formally raised these concerns with Neil Coyle MP and is collaborating as part of the 31-member Apprenticeship Coalition, led by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF), to ensure reforms balance accessibility and assurance.

“Encouraging more people into apprenticeships is something the industry fully supports, and greater flexibility in training investment can help address skills shortages,” said John Mannell, Technical Officer at the GGF.

“However, competence must remain at the centre of any reform. Independent assessment plays a critical role in ensuring that individuals entering the sector are properly trained, objectively assessed, and capable of delivering safe and compliant results.”

“As reforms emerge and evolve, it is vital that flexibility does not come at the expense of consistent, independently verified standards – particularly in sectors governed by the Building Safety Act.”

As the recognised voice of the glass and glazing sector, the GGF continues to engage with government and sector partners to ensure apprenticeship reform supports workforce growth while maintaining professional competence.

The GGF also continues to support new talent entering the industry through its Skilled Pathways for Trainees programme, delivered via the GGF Training Hub.

The initiative provides structured routes into the industry, offering recognised qualifications and clear competency benchmarks to support both employers and apprentices.

The Federation will continue reinforcing its commitment to protecting standards, supporting members, and strengthening the long-term capability of the glass and glazing workforce.
