Climb Kilimanjaro with the Kelly’s Heroes team

Rising majestically, Mount Kilimanjaro reaches a height of 5,895 m (19 340 ft) above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing peak in the world. Now Kilimanjaro is yours to climb. By joining the Kelly’s Heroes team, you get to climb this bucket list mountain whilst raising money and awareness for the charity.

Sarah Ball, Joint MD at full-service marketing agency Balls2 Marketing, and European team cyclist for the Kelly’s Heroes Loneliest Road challenge in 2022, says: “You can’t underestimate doing challenges like this for a charity that needs support. It not only raises money, but also spreads the word about the charity and the incredible work they do. For Kelly’s Heroes this is massively important. As a suicide prevention charity, getting the word out to help people is vital.

“When I got back from the cycling challenge last year, I knew I wanted to do another challenge to support the charity as soon as I could. Climbing Kilimanjaro was top of the list. It’s probably the tallest mountain in the world where we can get to the summit without oxygen. The view from the top will be from a completely different perspective – to me that’s symbolic of the help Kelly’s Heroes provide.”

Climbing such an epic mountain needs the right expert support, so the organisation of the trip is through Discover Adventure. It’s a company that supports charities and individuals on some of the toughest expeditions. Discover Adventure provides team leaders, liaison with local support teams, and medical back up, including a doctor, and it comes with years of experience and an exceptional reputation for delivering this type of event.

We have a great team building and we are hoping to get to 20 people by the beginning of 2024. So far, many of the team are from the glazing industry supply chain. They include Andrew Charlesworth – Profine Group, Gareth Jones – Solar Fabrications, Ian Ward – CNC Recycling, Alex Dutton – Brisant Secure, Sandra Berg – Quickslide, Barry Halpin – UAP and Lucy Daniels – DoorCo, as well as Sarah’s Joint MD at Balls2 Marketing, Andy Ball.

Plus joining the team is Willie Neil, his daughter Shannon died by suicide, and her name was on Sarah’s daughter Stephanie’s bike for the European ride last year. Sherry Adams from Kelly’s Heroes is also part of the team. There are another few people looking seriously at the logistics of joining us.
