Six years of volunteering

Last week marked six years since Kirsty Fortnam, Glass Express Midlands’ Technical Manager and Social Value Ambassador, started volunteering with the Birmingham-based Outreach Angels, ran by Liz Morrey and Sally Parsons.
Kirsty explained what she has been up to during the past six years.
“We go out once a week on a Tuesday and deliver a cooked meal, hot drinks, snacks, clothes, bedding and food bank items and pet food.
“Over the years we have ran various fund-raising campaigns to fund giving the homeless and the vulnerable a decent Christmas meal along with Christmas treats.
“This year we did it a little differently, we asked everyone to donate £5 to give a homeless person a meal, The support and reaction to this was phenomenal. From individuals to large companies, we have found the generosity to be very humbling.
“We will be providing roast turkey, pigs in blankets and all the trimmings as well as a vegetarian option. Along with chocolate coins, hot chocolate, mince pies and drinks.
“We are completely donation funded so this support has been wonderful, we are now running a Christmas raffle to ensure we can continue to support anyone who may need our help.”
