Nationwide Windows and Doors Supports Fighting Chance Initiative

Nationwide Windows and Doors supports the Fighting Chance project

Nationwide Windows and Doors (NWD) has chosen to support the Fighting Chance Project, delivered by Turnstyle Youth, as part of its commitment to creating meaningful social value.

In Aldershot Park Ward – a community where many young people are at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour, youth violence, or criminal exploitation – early, targeted intervention can make all the difference.

The 12-week, in-school programme, blends behaviour change workshops with combat skills training to re-engage some of the hardest-to-reach students. It helps young people develop focus, resilience, and self-worth, offering a new direction at a critical point in their lives.

The project is supported by VIVID, one of the largest providers of affordable housing in the south of England, through its social impact work with communities, and by supply chain partner Nationwide.

“At VIVID, we’re committed to creating opportunities that help young people thrive,” said Alex Nagle, Customer Service Director at VIVID. “The Fighting Chance Project is a powerful example of how early, targeted support can build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

“Through VIVID Plus, our charitable arm, we’re proud to invest in initiatives like this – helping young people rediscover their potential and supporting communities to grow stronger together.”

Pete O’Shea, Founder of Turnstyle, added: “Turnstyle exists to help young people who’ve been written off by mainstream systems rediscover their worth, discipline, and potential. Contributions like this one from Nationwide don’t just keep the lights on – they light a path. We’re deeply thankful.”

The programme is currently running in a secondary school in Aldershot, and the outcomes are powerful. Students who were previously on the verge of exclusion are now showing increased attendance, improved behaviour, and a renewed belief in themselves.

The impact of the Fighting Chance Project is best expressed by those who’ve seen it up close – the young people taking part, and the educators who support them:

  • “If I hadn’t come here, I don’t know where I’d be. This place gave me my first real chance.” – Student, age 15.
  • “Turnstyle is the most effective intervention I’ve seen in over twenty years of education. It gives young people hope, structure, and belief – it changes lives.” – Local Teacher.
  • “Turnstyle brings a consistency and safety that’s hard to find elsewhere. I’ve seen students re-engage, take ownership, and rediscover their sense of self.” – Pastoral Lead, Secondary School.

By backing Turnstyle Youth’s work, Nationwide Windows & Doors is helping to deliver real, grassroots social value. This isn’t just about improving homes – it’s about standing alongside the people working to change lives in the communities where those homes are.

Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide, commented: “Supporting initiatives like Fighting Chance is part of our wider commitment to social value. We’re proud to stand alongside Turnstyle and VIVID in giving young people the support and belief they deserve.”
