The fourth annual ‘Emplas Open’ took place on 11 June at Hanbury Manor, Hertfordshire, raising £13,534 for Niamh’s Next Step CIO (NNS), a Wellingborough-based childhood cancer charity.

The golf day, which Emplas says isfast becoming a highlight of the window and door industry social calendar, saw 78 golfers take to the fairway, with close to 100 people present for dinner afterwards.

Special guest, trick shot artist and former European Tour professional, David Edwards, joined players on the course, recording them in action to create an amusing film, complete with commentary, which was shown in the evening.

Both team and individual awards were presented at the post-golf dinner event, where Stuart Biden from Exact Windows was crowned Champion Golfer, with 74 shots.

This was followed by a charity auction – where prizes included an original canvas painting of golfing superstar Tiger Woods by respected British artist Paul Oz – and comedy from the highly acclaimed stand-up Keith Farnan.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to all our amazing customers and suppliers who joined us for the event and pledged their support for the very worthy cause that is NNS,” said Ryan Johnson, Group Managing Director, Emplas.

“As well as the charity auction, we also held a game of ‘Heads or Tails’ in the evening, which raised a lot of money, as did our ‘Club Clean’ service and ‘Beat the Pro’ competition during the day.

“All the money raised will be used by NNS to fund groundbreaking neuroblastoma research and help young children fight cancer.

“We’d like to give a special mention to our event sponsors, AluK; Arkay Windows; Avocet; Cotswold; DoorCo; Elsby; Epwin; EVA CRM; Fab&Fix; We Are Gateway; Georgian Bar Company; Hurst; JST Forklifts; Kubu; MDS; NW Metal Sections; Pilkington; Rapier Star; Rotox Winmac; Stuga; Subframes UK; WAIB; and Window Widgets, who raised £6,250 between them for NNS.

“We really appreciate the business and loyalty of our customers, and getting together, in the stunning surroundings of Hanbury Manor for a day of golf, is a great way to thank them. Raising valuable funds for our local charity partner, NNS, in the process is the icing on the cake.”

Chris Curry, Founder of NNS, added: “Thanks to our long‑standing partnerships with businesses such as Emplas, NNS is able to fund vital research that may otherwise struggle to secure the attention and resources it urgently needs.

“As a charity, we are fully committed to giving children with neuroblastoma a better chance of a brighter future, and that is being made possible through the success of fantastic fundraising events like the Emplas Open.”
