Eurocell Technical Engineer Takes on 20-Mile Charity Hike

Eurocell’s Technical Engineer Shaun Chapman, is lacing up his boots for an emotional and challenging 20-mile charity hike in support of Fairplay, a Chesterfield-based children’s charity supporting young people with disabilities and complex health needs across North Derbyshire.

Taking place next week (Friday 8 August), the sponsored hike will cover seven Wainwrights in the Lake District, including Dale Head, Grasmoor and Whiteless Pike, reaching an elevation of 851m (2,792 ft). It’s all in aid of raising vital funds for Fairplay, which provides services such as home-based care, sibling support and life skill development for families who often rely on round-the-clock support.
This year’s walk holds particular meaning for Shaun and the rest of the team, as it will be dedicated to Lucy Hardwick, a much-loved young girl who attended Fairplay’s home-based support group and sadly passed away in August 2024.
Described by those who knew her as cheerful, cheeky and full of laughter, Lucy was a huge fan of Halloween, Trolls, Little Mix, and getting as messy as possible. The team will proudly wear pink and purple t-shirts in her honour.
Speaking ahead of the hike, Shaun said: “Lucy was an amazing young girl whose smile and laughter lit up the room. It’s not going to be easy work but considering the difficulties some of the families that Fairplay support face, it will be worth it.”
