“Emplas Runners” Take on the Newcastle Half Marathon

Throughout 2025, Emplas has been fundraising for its charity partner, Niamh’s Next Step (NNS), to raise much-needed funds and awareness of Neuroblastoma, which includes four employees taking on the upcoming Newcastle Half Marathon in September.
Set up by Sam and Chris Curry in 2013, NNS is a charity dedicated to the memory of their daughter, Niamh, who lost her battle against Neuroblastoma cancer at the age of 5.
Emplas employees have been taking part in a range of activities to date, including a horse racing night in March and a five-a-side football competition in May.
A team of four, dubbed the “Emplas Runners” also laced up their trainers to join the cause and take part in several long-distance runs including the Birmingham Half Marathon in May.
Paul Dowling, Damian Morphett, Tuan Dinh and Emma Chambers are now busy preparing for their next challenge – the Half Marathon in Newcastle on 7 September.
Paul Dowling, Technical Manager at Emplas, commented: “We set up the running group a little while ago as we wanted to improve our overall fitness, but the opportunity to run for NNS was something we were keen to do. We’re proud to represent NNS and play our part in the fundraising.”
The runners have raised £1,000 so far but are aiming to raise £2,000 by the end of the year.
