Baz’s Bands, Bakes and Brews make £1,065 for Kelly’s Heroes

Barry ‘Baz’ Halpin, UAP’s Group Sales Director and Kelly’s Heroes Kilimanjaro climber, added £1,065 to his total with a spectacular fundraising afternoon on Sunday 21 July.
Hosted at local microbrewery Cock o’ the North, live music was at the centre of the afternoon. The Marshall’s School of Music provided all three acts – Vinyl Friday, the upcoming students’ band, the Music Tutor Band, and Baz’s daughter Lola Halpin.
Alongside the music, there was a raffle with impressive food and drink hampers, and a spectacular cake sale donated by Mrs Stead’s Bakehouse.
Baz said: “I can’t believe the generosity of everyone who came to our fundraiser for Kelly’s Heroes. Raising money for the suicide prevention charity is massively important and making more than £1,000 was far more than I had hoped for.”
Reflecting on the event, Baz added: “My wife Kat did the lion’s share of the organisation for the event, and it’s her drive that made the afternoon so successful. As well as a huge thank you to everyone who donated, a BIG thank you needs to go to Kat.”
The Kelly’s Heroes Climbs Kilimanjaro team fly out on 12 September, and the trek itself starts on 14 September.
