Machu PiGchu team kicks off training sessions with Snowdon

Training is picking up pace for the Machu PiGchu team as its first group climb comes into view. The team is made up from people within the glazing industry, who are tackling the Inca Trail in October 2026, which aims to raise £70,000 for Harry’s Pals, a charity that provides emotional support to parents of severely ill and disabled children.
On Saturday 21 March, the group will be heading to the top of Snowdon via the Llanberis Path, a great chance to get some solid miles in, and enjoy a day out in the Welsh mountains. This will be the first shared training climb, making it as much about meeting the team as it is about climbing.
“Everyone’s coming at this from different starting points, which is one of the things I love about the team,” said Sarah Ball, STY Master. “Snowdon is a really good opportunity to trek together, chat, and start getting to know each other.”
The Llanberis Path takes between 5 and 8 hours to complete, offers a steady route and plenty of time to settle into a comfortable pace, making it ideal for a first training session without any pressure. It’s simply about enjoying the walk, learning what works, and sharing the experience with others who are taking on the same challenge.
Sarah added, “People are giving up their time and energy to raise money for Harry’s Pals and days like this remind you why it’s worth it.
“If you’d like to join the Snowdon climb, you’d be very welcome. Whether you’re already part of the Machu PiGchu team, thinking about getting involved, or fancy a challenge, it’s an open invitation to spend a great day climbing the highest mountain in the UK at 1,085m albeit only a quarter of the height we will be challenged with on Dead Woman’s Pass (4,200m), the highest part of the Inca Trail.”
