Specialist Glass Products complete 14km hospice fundraiser

In late September, a team from Specialist Glass Products (SGP) organised a 14km fundraiser walk for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, raising £590 for the charity.

The decision to go with Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice was taken together as a team, as they wanted to support a local charity and give something back to the community of which SGP is a part of.

The organisation is very local to the company in Yorkshire, and SGP says the charity do amazing work with children and families in the area, offering vital support to people who need it most.

Based in Huddersfield, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice provides specialist care across West Yorkshire for children and families with life-shortening conditions.

Services offered include nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy, days out, memory-making, end-of-life care, bereavement support and counselling to families facing or living with the loss of their child.

Lindsey Fallon, Head of Sales and Marketing at SGP commented: “We’re a Huddersfield business and a lot of our team live locally so it just felt like the right charity to support.

“We then reached out to the local community and encouraged them to get involved! Our aim was to raise as much money as possible for the hospice, which currently relies on 80% of its revenue through donations.

“The team’s response was amazing, as we welcomed customers, suppliers, friends, family, and four-legged friends.”

The day began with bacon sandwiches before setting off from Golcar Cricket Club. The walk spanned 14km of roads and fields, but despite the challenge everyone remained in high spirits and kept putting one foot in front of the other.

Lindsey added: “There was a real sense of determination throughout, with everyone pushing on together in support of such a worthwhile cause.

“After all of the hard work and perseverance, the team headed to the pub to celebrate with a very well earned beer.”

Everyone who took part donated £15, with anything additional as a bonus. This resulted in an amazing £290 raised, which we then matched, to bring the total to £580.
