Machu PiGchu: Getting to Know Sarah Hitchings

In October, a team of brave PiGs will take on the iconic Inca Trail in Peru, all in aid of our Charity of the Year, Harry’s Pals.
In this series of articles, we’re introducing you to the people behind the challenge, finding out a little more about what inspired them to take part, how they’re preparing for the adventure and what they’re looking forward to most.
This article is all about Sarah Hitchings. We caught up with her to find out more about their Machu PiGchu journey…

Why did you sign up for the Inca Trail?
Andy sold it to me after a couple of drinks at FIT Show! Then I thought everyone might have forgotten until Sam cajoled me into being her tent mate, and Sarah made me sign the dotted line! No escape!
What are you most looking forward to?
Raising lots of money for Harry’s Pals, experiencing a wonder of the world and ticking an epic adventure off my bucket list.
What are you most nervous about?
The tens of thousands of stone steps and the altitude, the unknown makes me nervous!
How’s the training going?
It’s going ok…not sure I’ll ever feel ready. I’ve lost weight as a bonus, and it has helped me prioritise my health and overall fitness, which is important and so often overlooked. I really hate the stairmaster at the gym!
What does Harry’s Pals mean to you?
It’s a wonderful charity, and the support it gives to parents and carers is so important.
I’ve known Andy for a longtime in the industry and meeting his family and being a part of this charity challenge is a real privilege.Describe the challenge in three words
Epic, daunting, unforgettable.
