Tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks

DoorCo team members Lucy Daniels & Mark Towers have committed to participate in the Kelly’s Heroes Mount Kilimanjaro Challenge, this September. As part of their training for the big climb, the pair tackled the Yorkshire Three peaks: Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
The challenge, which starts and ends in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, is to take on three of the best-known peaks in Yorkshire; Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). The aim of the challenge is to walk this 24-mile route with a total ascent of 1381m, within 12 hours. Both Mark & Lucy were part of the team named ‘the fast ones’ who smashed this target!
Mark Towers commented on his experience: “The Three Peaks challenge was a fantastic test of my physical and mental endurance. It was tough and I am still nursing the blisters, but knowing that I am doing this for Kelly’s Heroes kept me going. I am incredibly grateful for the support from my DoorCo team and the donations everybody has contributed. It was a great training session with the team. I feel more prepared and even more motivated to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro with the same determination.”
Lucy Daniels added: “I enjoyed the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge immensely and I am even more excited, and better prepared, to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in September. The team are a fantastic group that are really supportive, and that’s going to make a huge difference on the day!
“August was also ‘Fitness for Mental Health’ month over here at DoorCo so the timing was absolutely perfect to motivate everyone in the business. It’s also helped us reach our fundraising goal, which I am absolutely astounded by! Mark and I would like to thank all our customers, colleagues and friends who have donated to our Kilimanjaro fundraiser, we are incredibly grateful. This challenge is not only a test of our personal endurance but is also an effort to raise awareness and funding for Kelly’s Heroes, a cause close to many hearts at DoorCo.”
As Lucy and Mark continue to train and prepare for the ultimate challenge of Mount Kilimanjaro, they remain steadfastly committed to Kelly’s Heroes. Every step taken, every peak conquered, is driven by a determination to make a difference. This journey is a reflection of support, and the entire DoorCo team stands proudly behind both Mark and Lucy, cheering them on every step of the way!
