Recycle and Reward: Supporting local sports clubs

At the end of 2024, The Window Company donated £1000 to Sale Harriers, one of Manchester’s most respected athletic clubs, as part of the company’s Recycle and Reward programme.
Recycle and Reward is a community-focused initiative that encourages homeowners to recycle their old windows with The Window Company.
The funds generated through this programme go directly towards supporting local organisations, making a difference in Manchester. For homeowners looking to recycle windows in Manchester, this initiative is a great way to ensure old windows are reused sustainably while benefiting the local community.
Sale Harriers
According to The Window Company, Sale Harriers isn’t just your average running club — it’s an institution in the athletic world with a legacy dating back to the early 20th century. Known for its strong commitment to community involvement, the club has been a cornerstone of sports development in Manchester. The club offer a wide range of training opportunities to athletes of all abilities, supporting young talent as well as seasoned competitors.
Over the years, Sale Harriers has seen numerous achievements, with several world-class athletes counting themselves among their alumni.

From Olympians to national champions, the club has consistently nurtured talent and contributed to British athletics. But beyond mere accolades, its emphasis on inclusivity and community makes Sale Harriers a vital part of local life, inspiring runners of all levels to take to the track.
The donation stemmed from The Window Company’s ongoing commitment to community-driven programmes. The idea was also personal — Managing Director, Wayne Shaw, has been an avid runner with Sale Harriers for years. Having experienced the camaraderie and support firsthand, Wayne wanted to give something back to the club.
Following the donation, Fechin McKormick from Sale Harriers expressed his heartfelt gratitude in a social media post, saying: “This all happened because of a simple act of welcoming someone new. It’s a powerful reminder that hidden, untapped potential exists within the club, waiting to be unlocked. Thank you, Wayne Shaw and your Window Company, for your incredible generosity!”
Recycle and Reward
Through the Recycle and Reward initiative, The Window Company identified an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution, not only supporting the club itself but helping the athletes who rely on its facilities and resources. Beyond the club, initiatives like this enable the company to deepen its engagement with local organisations, fostering a strong sense of partnership within the Manchester community.
Recycle and Reward is an initiative that The Window Company says is built on sustainability and community support. Through this scheme, property owners around Manchester can recycle their old windows with the company, reducing waste while contributing to meaningful local projects. These funds are redistributed to local charities and organisations, creating a positive cycle of giving back to the community.
Since launching this programme, The Window Company has recycled thousands of windows and channelled the proceeds into various local causes, including athletic sponsorships, community events, and more.
