PiGs FAQs

For those new to the People in Glazing Society networking events and thinking about attending but not really sure what it’s about, we’ve helped put your mind at ease with some answers to our most frequently asked questions.

What is PiGs AKA the People in Glazing Society?
PiGs is a FREE networking event for all parts of the glazing and fenestration sector.
Alongside this, we also have am online news website for the people within the glazing sector, produce a bi-weekly newsletter called STY News and host a podcast named Two PiGs in a Pod.

When did PiGs start?
PiGs was originally set up by Dave and Claire Broxton in 2004, with current organiser and Chief PiG/STY Master Sarah Ball taking over the reins in 2014.

When are the events?
PiGs networking events are held four times a year across the UK. This year we have held two events in Birmingham and Bristol, with the next event happening in Newcastle on 22 August before ending in Manchester on 7 November.

How can I attend?
As we said, PiGs is completely FREE to attend. You can visit the PiGs website at www.peopleinglazing.co.uk and click the event you wish to attend.

What should I wear?
PiGs is an informal event. So if you wanted to wear a t-shirt and shorts, you can! But if you wanted to go a bit more smart casual, or even wear some of your company’s branded attire then that’s absolutely fine.

How will I know who will be there?
We have people from across the supply chain attend our events, from systems companies to installers. To keep the informal nature of the event, we don’t use name badges. It’s up to you to grab yourself a drink, and start a conversation with whoever you like!

How do you pay for the event?
We have a fantastic group of companies who support us by sponsoring the events. This means we can book the venue and put some money behind the bar.

How can my company sponsor an event?
We ask the same of all our sponsors, whether a multinational or an SME, that way it keeps it fair for everyone. The cost is £250 per event. To sponsor our events, contact Sarah at sty@peopleinglazing.co.uk.

Why should I attend?
We think it’s a must-attend event, whether you’re new to the industry or you have been in it for years. But don’t take our word for it, here’s what some of our regular attendees say is the best thing about PiGs:

“I love catching up with people I already know from the industry, as well as meeting people who are new to me. The food and atmosphere are always great too!” Richard Diliberto, Comp Door Sales Director

“It’s such an informal evening in a relaxed environment enjoying a catchup with old friends and making new.” Sarah Knight, Commercial Manager, GGP Magazine and Glazing Summit

“The networking opportunities, as I’m new to the industry. And catching up with others outside a working environment and having a ‘squealy’ good time!” – Sarah Potrykus, GGF Regional Membership Manager

“Great opportunity to see all the familiar and new faces, It’s always a great night. Good company, drinks and nice food…perfect.” Michelle Wright, Glazerite Head of Group Marketing

The next PiGs networking event is on Thursday 22 August 2024 in Newcastle.
