One year on: How lignum is supporting hawker’s bespoke business

A year after introducing the Lignum timber window and door system, Hawker Joinery has reinforced its investment with the opening of an impressive new showroom that reflects the company’s approach to growing its business.
Rather than separating its product offering, Hawker has displayed Lignum timber windows and doors alongside its bespoke historic and conservation joinery.
As Commercial Director Mitchell Thomas explained at the launch, “The ranges work together to give customers genuine choice. The new showroom allows us to demonstrate the best options for any project, which is attracting developers and architects as well as property owners.”
Strengthening sales with Lignum
For Hawker, adding Lignum has strengthened rather than changed the business. The certified system enables the company to manufacture windows and doors efficiently for developments and projects where a bespoke solution isn’t required, while freeing capacity in the workshop for the specialist heritage work that has built Hawker’s reputation. Mitchell added, “With over £160K of Lignum orders placed even before the showroom launch, it proves having another offering for our clients secures more profitable work for the pipeline alongside our bespoke range.”
The showroom also reflects another important benefit. Customers can compare Lignum and bespoke products in the same space, allowing Hawker to guide them towards the most appropriate solution for their project while keeping those opportunities within the business. The comparison extends onto the website, with the bespoke listed property range and Lignum range offered side by side see Hawker Joinery Website, and dedicated product ranges to boost the website ranking.
Manufacturing flexibility has become another advantage. During periods of peak demand, Hawker is utilising The Joinery Network’s Accelerate manufacturing scheme, outsourcing Lignum production to trusted network partners when required. The business is protecting lead times while keeping its own skilled craftsmen focused on complex bespoke projects.
One year on, the strategy is delivering tangible results for Hawker Joinery. By combining a premium certified timber window and door system with its renowned bespoke craftsmanship, the company has broadened its offering, increased manufacturing flexibility and strengthened its position across new- build, contemporary and heritage markets.
