MiGlass’ Alan Taylor and High Sheriff Discuss Local Partnerships

Alan Taylor, Managing Director of MiGlass Ltd and Chair of Sandwell Business Ambassadors (SBA) and the Smethwick Partnership Board, recently hosted a meeting with Mark Smith, the High Sheriff of the West Midlands, to discuss collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening local communities and supporting business engagement.
The meeting focused on several key areas where MiGlass, SBA, and the High Sheriff’s office could work together to make a meaningful impact:
This included:
- Encouraging Business Leaders to Become Magistrates – Promoting opportunities for senior professionals to contribute to the justice system.
- Rehabilitation and Employment for Offenders – Creating pathways to help offenders rebuild their lives through employment and support, reducing the risk of reoffending.
- Support for Care Leavers – Offering mentoring, training, and job opportunities for young people leaving the care system.
Alan said: “We are passionate about working with partners to create opportunities that change lives – whether that’s through business growth, skills development, or helping vulnerable individuals find a future. Our collaboration with the High Sheriff is a vital step towards achieving this shared vision.”
Alan is said to bring extensive experience to these discussions. As Chair of the Townsfund for five years, he oversaw a £20 million investment in Smethwick, including the development of the Midland Met Training Centre in partnership with the NHS and Sandwell College. This facility enables local residents to access high-quality hospital jobs at the new Midland Met Hospital.
