Kilimanjaro training moves on up to Scafell Pike

11 of the 15 Kelly’s Heroes Climb Kilimanjaro team have recently ramped up training by making it to the top of Scafell Pike.
Challenge organiser Sarah Ball said that the team took the ‘scree path’ to take their training to the next level.
She said: “We had perfect weather conditions, and a surprise of extra climbers from DoorCo!”
Alongside the extra climbers, morale was boosted further by another extra climber in Eddie, climber Andrew Charlesworth’s dog.
During the tough walk, Sarah explained that there were lots of chats and laughs as the team got to know each other, some for the very first time.
She explained: “Everyone said how much they enjoyed it. Two of the climbers who couldn’t make it in Barry Halpin and Tristan Scoffield both sent us messages while we were climbing which was great.
“We also discussed how fellow climber Gareth Jones will be celebrating his 50th birthday as we descend the mountain. So keep an eye out for how we plan to celebrate that as we get closer to September!”
Sarah was also in reflective mood about the strength of the team and the continued generosity of glazing sector and beyond.
She concluded: “The generosity of supporters has been truly humbling. We have almost hit £18,000 as a group, which is a amazing this early on. We are aiming for £50,000 for Kelly’s Heroes, a suicide prevention charity so we still need more.
“There are still a few places, if anyone would like to join us. The professional organisation of the trip is by Discover Adventure, a company with years of experience and expertise supporting charities in these types of adventures.
“Contact me directly if you want to make new lifelong friends, tick Kilimanjaro off your bucket list, raise much needed funds for Kelly’s Heroes or simply challenge yourself to do something extraordinary.”
The next group walk will be the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in July.
