Jon Cole becomes latest Expert on The Joinery Hour

The latest episode of the Joinery Hour Expert Series saw Jon Cole, Chief Operating Officer at Police Crime Prevention Initiatives – Secured by Design (SBD), provide an insightful discussion on the role of security standards in the window and door sector.
Hosted by Luke Piper, Director of The Joinery Network, the episode focused on the growing importance of PAS 24 certification and Building Regulations Part Q, which is 10 years old this year.
These regulations are increasingly central to how timber windows and doors are manufactured, specified, and approved, particularly for new build and refurbishment projects.
Jon shared valuable insights on the evolving nature of home security, and how initiatives like SBD are helping to reduce crime through effective product design and regulation.
He also explained how doors, windows and locks form the biggest part of SBD’s work.
Jon then outlined how PAS 24, which sets out the enhanced security performance requirements for doors and windows, ties into Part Q compliance and why manufacturers must stay up to date.
Luke commented: “It was a real privilege to have Jon return to present on the Joinery Hour.
“The conversation around PAS 24 and Building Regulations Part Q couldn’t be more relevant with these regulations currently going through potentially huge changes.
“It’s vital to have people like Jon come on and for the sector to stay informed, and we’re proud to be providing a platform for these expert conversations.”
The episode will be available to watch on The Joinery Network’s YouTube channel soon.
The Joinery Hour Expert Series returns on Friday 15 August at 8am, when Simon Jarman of Clever Bean Accounting provides financial insights tailored specifically to the joinery sector, including cost control, cash flow, and smarter business planning.
