RED Systems is a specialist façade/facade, curtain wall and glazing contractor delivering complex projects across the UK.
We’re strengthening pre-construction technical assurance and driving a practical, proportionate approach to the Building Safety Act with a new senior role that sits on our Operational Board.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll be RED’s technical authority at pre-construction — leading technical sign-off at bid-stage reviews and new-order handovers, calling risks early, and steering compliant value engineering.
You’ll own RED’s technical standards library (specifications, calculations, details, product evidence) and direct or QA external façade and structural engineers.
Design interface: you’ll lead technical assurance of outputs from REDline Facades (our design partner), while the Senior Projects Manager retains programme ownership.
This is a hands-on, board-level role shaping how RED delivers façades safely, efficiently and compliantly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical sign-off at bid stage and at new-order handover

  • Identify and quantify technical risk early

  • Deliver value engineering that remains fully compliant with Building Regulations, CWCT and fire performance

  • Build, own and maintain RED’s technical standards library

  • Scope, appoint and quality-assure external façade/facade and structural engineering partners

  • Line-manage the part-time Technical Manager; mentor and influence designers through standards, not red tape

  • Represent Technical on the Operational Board with concise risk and recommendation reporting

About You

  • Senior façade/curtain wall/glazing engineer or technical lead with board-level gravitas

  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, CWCT, fire performance and façade systems (unitised/stick)

  • Proven track record running design assurance at bid/hand-over with measurable impact on margin and programme

  • Confident influencing without direct line control (assurance vs programme separation)

  • MSc Façade Engineering (or equivalent) desirable; CEng/SFE progress a plus

  • Comfortable with BIM/digital design principles and managing external consultants
