Endurance Doors is said to have demonstrated its commitment to nurturing future talent by supporting the with Women into Manufacturing and Engineering (WiME) Raising Aspirations Programme in partnership with WiME and The Vale Academy.

The initiative is designed to encourage more young women to consider careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), showcase the breadth of opportunities available within modern manufacturing and engineering, and provide practical insight into modern industry, helping to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world careers. Confidence building is said to be another key aim of the programme.

The programme is said to reflect Endurance Doors’ wider focus on investing in local communities, developing the workforce of tomorrow and helping to promote greater diversity across the manufacturing sector.

Students were reportedly inspired by female industry professionals, including Endurance team members, Emma Sloan and Jessie Meakin, who led a series of workshops designed to help participants identify their strengths, develop confidence and think about their future ambitions.

Other speakers included Sarah Cook from Wood and Lisa Carter from Munich Re who shared their own career journeys and experiences and highlighted the value of determination, resilience and self-belief.

The second phase of the programme included a visit to the Endurance Doors manufacturing facility, where students were given a guided tour of the extrusion department by Ryan Clarkson.

The visit offered valuable first-hand insight into a modern manufacturing environment, allowing students to observe production processes, ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the diverse range of roles available across the sector, including engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, logistics and business functions.

Russell Hensman, Brand Engagement Manager at Endurance Doors, said: “As one of the UK’s leading composite door manufacturers, we are passionate about supporting the next generation and helping young people understand the exciting opportunities available within modern manufacturing and engineering.

“Programmes such as WiME play a vital role in raising aspirations, building confidence and challenging perceptions about careers in STEM and we are proud to champion and be a part of the initiative.”

“It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and engagement from the students throughout the programme.

“By opening our doors and sharing real-world experiences, we hope we have helped inspire some of the future talent that our industry will rely on for years to come.”

Manufacturing and engineering continue to face a significant gender imbalance, with women remaining underrepresented across many technical and leadership roles.

By supporting programmes such as WiME, Endurance Doors says it is helping to invest in future skills and local talent development, strengthening links with local education providers, and contributing towards building a more diverse and inclusive workforce for the future.

A major transformation and revitalisation of a Newport city centre shopping district has been supported by specialist independent trade fabricator, Fentrade.

The project saw the creation of a complete new shopping area within the Kingsway Centre with nine sets of shopfront doors and screens manufactured in RAL9005 matt black finish from Jack Aluminium profiles.

The new shopping area will reportedly make more space available for small local traders to access start-up retail units and complement the recent addition of a traditional market and entertainment area in the Kingsway.

Commenting on this latest commercial undertaking, Chris Reeks, Fentrade’s Managing Director, was pleased with the outcome.

He said: “Newport is one of the fastest-growing cities in Wales and it’s been a pleasure to work with the Kingsway Centre to help them develop a shopping experience that will drive more visitors to the city centre.

“Working closely with their team we provided open, bright and welcoming entrances to appeal to traders and shoppers alike.”

The Kingsway project required non-thermally broken screens with easy-to-use yet secure locking and single glazed laminated panes, but Fentrade’s portfolio also encompasses thermally broken profile systems with multiple options of standard, secure and emergency-access locking

“Being involved in such a project in our home town is a great source of pride for our team and us as a company”, continued Chris.

“And it is also exciting for our products to form an integral part of a drive to increase footfall into the city centre when other high street shopping areas are struggling.”

Window Ware has been named a finalist in the Hardware Company of the Year category at the 2026 National Fenestration Awards (NFAs).

The nomination reportedly comes at a time of significant focus for the Bedford-based distributor, which has spent the last six months expanding its hardware offering and strengthening its technical support through a newly bolstered team of specialists.

Unlike many industry accolades, the NFAs do not accept self-entries; finalists are determined solely by nominations from customers, suppliers, and peers within the glazing and joinery sectors.

That is what is said to make this industry-led shortlisting particularly meaningful for Window Ware, serving as a valued endorsement of the team’s effort to maintain service excellence despite a shifting market.

With a clear focus on next-day reliability and maintaining an impressive 98.89% average On Time In Full (OTIF) rate since December last year, the company has worked to ensure that hardware supply remains a constant for fabricators and installers navigating new material trends and evolving building regulations.

Sam Nuckey, Managing Director of Window Ware, believes the nomination reflects the team’s quietly consistent approach to service.

She said: “Being named a finalist is a welcome recognition of the hard work our team puts in behind the scenes.

“We don’t do what we do for the trophies, but when the industry takes the time to nominate us, it tells us we’re hitting the mark where it matters – supporting our customers’ day-to-day operations with the right products and reliable technical advice.

“The competition in this category is always strong, but regardless of the final result, this nomination reinforces our commitment to keep raising the bar for our customers.”

The winners of the NFAs are decided by an open industry vote, which is now live. Window Ware is encouraging its contacts across the trade to cast their votes before the 5pm deadline on Friday 18 September.

The winners will be announced at the official awards ceremony on 24th October. To view the full list of finalists and cast your vote, visit: https://www.fenestrationawards.co.uk/nfa26/

Gretsch-Unitas (G-U) has been named the winner of the Product Design and Innovation – Electronic Award at the AI Specification Awards.

Organised by the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) in conjunction with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the event took place at IET London: Savoy Place.

The award, sponsored by the Automatic Door Suppliers Association (ADSA), is said to recognise developments in electronic access control and automation.

The winning entry, the GU DTN 80 UFO (Underfloor operator), is an electro-mechanical swing door operator designed, engineered and assembled in the UK.

By concealing the drive mechanism completely within the floor, the system automates swing doors without visible face-fixed hardware.

The configuration supports projects where visible hardware is restricted, such as external facades requiring seamless glass sightlines or listed heritage buildings.

The mechanism is contained within an IP67-rated stainless steel housing, which was tested by Element Materials Technology to BS EN 60529:1992+A2:2013 standards for wet or outdoor locations.

The operator can be used in fully automatic or low-energy modes, acting as a direct drive bottom pivot or via a lever guide rail as an indirect drive solution.

A video of the winning entry can be viewed here.

The AI Specification Awards, organised by the GAI in conjunction with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), reportedly celebrate excellence in the specification and design of architectural ironmongery throughout the construction industry.

This biennial event highlights the collaborative relationship between architects, specifiers and architectural ironmongers, recognising architectural integrity, safety, usability and sustainability in commercial, public and residential projects.

Technical details and specification advice regarding the GU DTN 80 UFO are available by contacting the Gretsch-Unitas team at sales@g-u.co.uk, or by visiting: Your partner for window, door, and building technology | Gretsch Unitas Limited

Titon Hardware has announced the acquisition of G-Pack Manufacturing, a UK supplier of injection moulded plastic components used in the installation of windows and doors.

G-Pack supplies a range of installation accessories including bridge packers, flat packers, sill end caps and frame corner protectors.

Its products are designed to work with major UK window system profiles and are used by fabricators across the UK.

Strengthening Titon’s window and door hardware offer

The acquisition reportedly adds a complementary product range to Titon’s existing Window and Door Hardware portfolio.

For customers, this means access to a broader range of products from Titon. G-Pack’s installation accessories sit naturally alongside Titon’s existing hardware range, supporting customers who need practical, reliable components for window and door manufacture and installation.

G-Pack also brings an adjacent customer base and product knowledge. Titon will work carefully through the integration to maintain continuity for customers while identifying opportunities to improve service, availability and product support.

Greater manufacturing control over time

G-Pack’s products are currently manufactured through a third-party partner. As part of the integration, Titon plans to bring this production into its Haverhill facility.

This is expected to give Titon greater control over production, quality and future product development.

It will also reportedly make better use of Titon’s existing injection moulding capability, supporting the Group’s strategy to invest in complementary products and build on its UK manufacturing base.

Continuity for customers

G-Pack will initially operate as a standalone subsidiary of Titon. Existing customer contacts, ordering arrangements and supply processes will remain unchanged unless customers are advised otherwise.

Steve Barnes, the current Owner of G-Pack, will join Titon on a fixed-term contract to support the integration and help ensure a smooth transition.

Tom Carpenter, Chief Executive Officer of Titon, commented: “The acquisition of G-Pack is a positive step for Titon and supports the delivery of our Titon 2028 strategy.

“G-Pack’s products sit naturally alongside our existing Window and Door Hardware range and give customers access to a broader product offer.

“Over time, we expect to bring G-Pack’s currently outsourced production into our Haverhill facility.

“This will give us greater control over manufacturing and support the better use of our existing injection moulding capability.”
