Choice Trade Frames sponsorships strengthens community ties

Choice Trade Frames sports club sponsorship

Rich Allen, Director of Choice Trade Frames, discusses the origins of the company and its sponsorship of three local sports teams.

Choice Trade Frames opened the doors to it’s first branch in February 2018 in Gloucester. We spent several years working for Sameday Trade Frames before they were bought out by Stevenswood.

After establishing that all was not as it seemed within the Stevenswood framework at that time, we decided to set up on our own and give it a go. Eight years later we now have nine depots and may be looking at another.

We have a history of sponsoring local sports teams at all levels. Some is for brand awareness, and some is for giving back to the community.

We currently sponsor the junior section of Gloucester City Cricket Club with kit and trophies every season. We also sponsor Torquay United Under 13’s girls with their match kit, and will be doing something very soon with another club, Launceston Rugby Club.

Our largest sponsorship commitment came on the back of a conversation with my wife. Three years ago, we got approached to sponsor one of the Gloucester Hartpury ladies team, Bianca Blackburn.

Bianca is a former England international and also a serving police officer. As rugby is more of a hobby for her now, we were asked if we would be interested in sponsoring, which we did.

Although Gloucester Hartpury is a professional sports team, the current lack of funding within the ladies game means a lot of players are not full time.

From this, we had the opportunity to invest further with Gloucester Hartpury. We had out logo on the training/warm up kits for a season before moving to the back of the match shirts for the 24/25 season.

With the increased popularity of the ladies game and a large link up with Hartpury College, Gloucester Hartpury Ladies and also Gloucester Rugby, Vodafone wanted the back to the ladies match shirts for this season.

Given that we were fans first before sponsors, and could see the benefit in what Vodafone could bring across the various areas, we stepped aside and negotiated a new deal.

This included being on the match shorts for the ladies team, men’s team player sponsorship and also a digital package to be shown at Gloucester Rugby’s Kingsholm Stadium on all men’s and women’s games.

We have since taken over some advertising boards at Kingsholm as well.

Looking ahead, I’m sure there will be more opportunities for sponsorship over the coming years.
