Machu PiGchu: Getting to know Dan Powell

In October, a team of brave PiGs will take on the iconic Inca Trail in Peru, all in aid of our Charity of the Year, Harry’s Pals.

In this series of articles, we’re introducing you to the people behind the challenge, finding out a little more about what inspired them to take part, how they’re preparing for the adventure and what they’re looking forward to most.

This article is all about Dan Powell. We caught up with him to find out more about his Machu PiGchu journey…

Why did you sign up for the Inca Trail?
After a few drinks on the boat going down the Thames, speaking with Sarah and with a few nudges from Baz (Halpin), it was agreed I would do it.

But in all seriousness, I have wanted to do a team event like this, and the Inca Trail had to be the one.

What are you most looking forward to?
Working with the team to complete the goal, and raising money for Harry’s Pals, is what will keep everyone going.

What are you most Nervous about?
Camping, with no showers for four days! But we are all in this together, so it won’t be a distant worry after day one.

Hows the training going?
Really well! Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to do any of the group walks, but I have been out on long days out getting ready.

What does Harry’s Pals mean to you?
It’s a fantastic charity, the work they do is amazing for all the families the support, and being able to do this to support them is an honour.
