Husband and wife team up to run London Marathon

Husband-and-wife team Clive and Debra Gibbs of Certass are running in the London Marathon on 21 April, raising money for a cause close to their hearts.

Clive works for Certass in its audit and technical department, while Debra works in finance, are no strangers to challenges of this magnitude both in their roles at Certass and in their personal endeavours.

This year, they have chosen to lace up their running shoes and test their limits in a bid to raise vital funds for St John Ambulance. With the marathon soon, the couple have reflected on the rigorous training regimen that began on Christmas Eve. Trading holiday comfort for the crisp morning air and the hum of the treadmill has been a testament to their discipline.

The duo have said their journey isn’t just about personal achievement, it’s about community service. Running the marathon is a stride toward helping St John Ambulance, an institution that is instrumental in equipping volunteers to save lives and support the NHS. They have set a fundraising target of £2000, and have already hit a good portion of that, showcasing the generous spirit of the glazing community and their networks.

Debra and Clive’s preparation has included more than just endurance; they incorporated a half marathon to experience race conditions and pushed towards achieving a race pace. The coupe’s days are meticulously structured with morning runs followed by evening sessions that vary from tempo runs and hill repetitions to intervals and cross-training. They find the cause – supporting charity work that is indispensable to the nations – as their primary motivation, especially during the most demanding months.

Clive and Debra are not only pushing their physical limits but also organising fundraising events, intending to close the gap on their financial goal.

Certass says it proudly stands behind Clive and Debra, saying: “Their commitment resonates with our company ethos – to make a meaningful difference in our community.”
