Business Micros’ Joe O’Hara to Run 2026 London Marathon

Joe O’Hara, Business Development Manager at Business Micros, has announced he will run the 2026 TCS London Marathon to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
His decision follows five challenging years in which both of his parents have faced, and continue to fight, serious cancer diagnoses.
In March 2020, Joe’s dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. After chemotherapy and surgery, he experienced a brief remission before the disease returned in 2022. In summer 2023, he was also diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his bones and lymph nodes, and he continues treatment with courage and determination.
That same year, Joe’s mum was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. After a mastectomy, lymph-node clearance, and nearly two years of intensive treatment, she is now thankfully in remission.
“Watching both my parents face these diagnoses has been incredibly tough for me and my sister Emma,” Joe said. “But their resilience and positive spirit have been nothing short of inspirational. Running the London Marathon is my way of honouring their strength and supporting the research that gives families like ours hope.”
Joe added: “One in two of us will get cancer in our lifetimes. Only half of UK cancer research is government-funded—the rest depends on charities like Cancer Research UK. My dad is currently benefiting from a new treatment that wasn’t even available last year, and that’s only possible thanks to ongoing research and the generosity of donors.”
Joe’s fundraising goal is to support Cancer Research’s fight against cancer and help provide new treatments and precious time for those affected.
