Business Micros’ Elliot Chadwick in Advent Calendar Challenge

Elliot Chadwick from Business Micros is taking on a very special challenge this month, to raise money for the Community Assessment Unit (CAU) at Wigan, Wrightington, and Leigh.

Instead of opening a window to find a chocolate every day like a standard Advent Calendar, Elliot is running the number of kilometres that matches the date. So, on December 1st he ran 1km, December 2nd was 2km, and he’s gradually building up, on Christmas Eve he’ll be running 24km! By the end of the month, he’ll have covered over 300km – the equivalent from Wigan to Glasgow!

Elliot is hoping to reach his target of £1,000. Every penny will go straight to helping patients at the CAU, making their time there a bit more comfortable and enjoyable. Some patients, especially those without family nearby, might not even have basic things like hygiene products. Donations will also help pay for activities like painting sessions for patients with dementia or other memory or cognitive challenges.

And that’s not all, part of the money will help bring local musicians to play for the patients. Music works wonders: some patients who seem lost in themselves can light up and come alive as soon as they hear songs from their past. It’s amazing to see how a simple tune can lift spirits and bring joy.

Elliot said: “I wanted to do something a bit different this December and give back to our local hospital. Running every day might be tough but knowing it helps patients and puts a smile on their faces makes it all worthwhile. Whether it’s a few pounds or just cheering me on, every bit of support counts. Let’s make this Christmas a little brighter for the CAU patients!”
