Six months after its acquisition by the Mutares Group, Kawneer Europe has taken targeted steps to strengthen its organisation and leadership, with three new appointments and a name change.

With operations in the Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom, the company said it is focusing on further stability and controlled growth.

Following an analysis of the organisation and its operations, adjustments have been made to the structure and management model. These measures result in clearer responsibilities, faster decision-making and improved alignment with the markets in which Kawneer Europe operates.

NorDan UK has announced the acquisition of RED Systems, a UK-based specialist in architectural glazing, curtain walling and façade systems.

The move reportedly marks a significant step in NorDan’s UK growth strategy, strengthening its early-stage design, compliance expertise and building delivery capabilities to expand its offering beyond high performance windows and doors into a more integrated building envelope solution.

By combining NorDan’s expertise in high-performance timber and aluminium-clad windows and doors with RED Systems’ façade capability, the business will offer a more integrated approach to building envelope design and delivery. This aims to support earlier project involvement, improve coordination across systems and reduce risk at key interface points.

Craig Greenwood, Managing Director of NorDan UK, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome RED Systems into NorDan UK. This is about bringing together two businesses that already share a strong focus on quality, collaboration and delivery.

“For our customers, it means a stronger, more capable delivery proposition. We’re strengthening our ability to support projects earlier, work more closely with partners and ultimately deliver better, more coordinated outcomes on site.”

RED Systems is said to have established a strong national reputation for delivering aluminium architectural glazing and SFS commercial projects with an expert design, supply and installation service. RED Systems has completed over 500 projects during the course of its 22-year history across the UK on large residential, commercial, education and leisure sectors.

The business is reportedly known for its early-stage involvement in projects and its ability to support clients through detailed design coordination and technical delivery, including multiple Building Safety Act gateway submissions.

Michael Green, Managing Director of RED Systems said: “We’re proud of the business we’ve built at RED Systems, particularly our reputation for delivering high-quality, design-led façade solutions.

“In NorDan, we’ve found a partner that shares our values, our approach to quality and our long-term commitment to clients. This was an important decision for us, and it was critical to align with a business that strengthens, rather than changes how we operate.”

Set against NorDan’s centenary year, the move is said to reflect the Group’s continued evolution of its capabilities, extending its approach to more integrated and accountable building envelope solutions in response to increasing complexity across the construction sector.

Johannes Rasmussen, CMO NorDan Group and member of the NorDan founding family, also pointed to the shared values underpinning the partnership, noting the strong alignment between the two organisations in how projects are approached and delivered, and the importance of maintaining that consistency as the business continues to grow.

Dag Kroslid, CEO of NorDan Group, added: “Across the NorDan Group, our focus is on maintaining high standards of quality and performance, while continuing to develop our capabilities in line with the needs of our customers and the markets.

“The investment in RED Systems is a new important step for NorDan in the UK market that brings together complementary expertise and strengthens how we support our customers across the building envelope. It reflects our consistent approach to growth, where quality and long-term performance remain central.

“The announcement of this joint venture is a proud moment for NorDan, and we look forward to a great cooperation with RED Systems.“

End-to-end passive fire protection specialists, KuhnOdice UK, shares the story of one of its apprentice successes, in the form of Luke Hatherly.

KuhnOdice UK says Luke Hatherly’s journey is a strong example of how apprenticeships can shape long-term careers when supported effectively by businesses.

Luke has been part of KuhnOdice UK—formerly Mann McGowan—since the age of 16. Inspired by his grandfather, who spent a decade working as an engineer at Mann McGowan, Luke first joined the company in 2019 as a Factory Assistant during the summer.

What began as a short-term opportunity quickly developed into a clear career path. Luke went on to complete both his Level 2 Engineering Operative and Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeships, each requiring 18 months of dedication and commitment.

His training followed a structured approach, combining four days per week of hands-on experience in the factory with one day at college. This balance reportedly allowed Luke to develop both practical skills and technical knowledge essential to his role.

The academic side of the apprenticeship demanded significant written coursework, which Luke is said to have found challenging at times.

However, the support he received from both his college tutors and his workplace mentor, Jamie Scott at KuhnOdice, proved invaluable. Their guidance helped him stay on track and build confidence in his abilities.

Now an established member of the team, Luke is continuing to invest in his development. He plans to broaden his expertise by undertaking an electrical qualification, further strengthening his skill set within the engineering field.

In addition, he is keen to give back by supporting the next generation, with ambitions to mentor a Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprentice.

Luke’s story highlights the impact that structured training, strong mentorship, and ongoing support can have—not only on individual careers but on the future strength of the business as a whole.

Window Ware has highlighted the strength and stability of its team this month, as four key members reach a combined total of 75 years of service.

These latest long-service milestones are said to underscore the deep-rooted technical knowledge and expertise that remains a cornerstone of the distributor’s support for the UK window and door industry.

In January, Luke Macleod reached five years with the company, having played a vital role in maintaining supply chain continuity during the pandemic. Today, his many hats as Senior Warehouse Operative, First Aider, and Mental Health First Responder reportedly make him invaluable to the team.

He was joined by Sales Office Manager Sam Billington, who marked 20 years. Rising from office junior aged just 16 to her current role as Sales Office Manager, Sam’s data entry precision and total professionalism has said to have been central to the firm’s sales office operations for two decades. She has also been integral to establishing Window Ware’s first-line technical support process.

This month, Product and Technical Manager Rob Vaughan also hit his 20-year milestone. Rob’s extensive product knowledge and technical acumen have reportedly been fundamental to the growth of Window Ware’s own-brand offering and new product development, while his expertise makes him a vital consultative resource for customers, brand partners, and colleagues alike.

Finally, the company celebrates a historic first as Warehouse Team Leader, John D’Amore reaches his 30th anniversary. As the backbone of the Quality Control and returns process, Window Ware says John’s ability to identify any piece of hardware at a glance is a unique and legendary asset to the firm.

Sam Nuckey, Window Ware Managing Director, commented: “The depth of knowledge, expertise, and team camaraderie we have here is truly what makes Window Ware what it is today. These milestones represent a level of dedication that defines our service, and we are incredibly proud of the individuals who make it possible. We appreciate every single team member and the vital contribution they make to our shared success.”

Sam was on hand to personally present the awards, celebrating a team that remains among the most experienced in the fenestration hardware sector.

When a business with nearly 250 years of heritage chooses where to invest its time and voice, it’s never a decision taken lightly. However, for Kenrick and Sons, joining the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) was said to be a natural step.

Not only was this decision made to support its own growth, but it supported Kenrick and Sons’ role to actively shape the future of the industry.

The GGF brings together companies from across the supply chain to represent collective interests at the highest level.

For Kenrick and Sons, this influence was reportedly a key factor.

“The GGF ensures our industry’s voice is heard at the highest levels,” explained Martin Smith, General Manager at Kenrick. “Its technical knowledge and advocacy work are instrumental in helping government make informed decisions that impact our sector. Being part of that conversation is incredibly important to us.”

In an increasingly regulated environment, having a central body that not only understands legislation, but actively engages with policymakers, is said to be becoming more important than ever.

Membership provides businesses with a direct connection to that process – ensuring that they are not only informed but actively represented.

Beyond advocacy, the value of the GGF membership is said to lie in its ability to bring the industry together.

Kenrick has praised the GGF’s extensive programme of events and specialist technical groups, including the annual GGF Members’ Day.

“These forums provide valuable opportunities to share expertise,” continued Martin. “It’s key to collaborate with industry colleagues and help customers maximise the value of their hardware choices.”

The Federation’s focus on long-term sustainability also plays a critical role.

With the skills gap continuing to challenge the sector, initiatives such as the Skilled Pathways Scheme demonstrate a clear commitment to supporting the next generation of talent.

For members, this provides reassurance that the industry is not only addressing today’s challenges but actively preparing for the future.

For Kenrick and Sons, joining the GGF is reportedly about being part of something bigger – contributing to an industry-wide effort to raise standards, strengthen collaboration, and ensure the sector continues to evolve with the times.

As the industry navigates increasing regulatory, environmental, and commercial pressures, that collective approach is an essential driving factor.
