Show season for Kömmerling kicked off on 19 March with the Homebuilding and Renovating Show. Following its debut appearance at the Sandown Park Homebuilding and Renovating Show in 2025, Kömmerling returned for 2026 to the national event with an enhanced presence, with a 100sqm stand that reportedly showcased the breadth of its offering to engage directly with homeowners, self-builders and renovators.

Throughout the event, discussions with fabricators, system houses and specifiers highlighted several key trends shaping the future of door hardware, particularly around automation, compliance and access control integration.

One of the most prominent areas of interest was said to be the continued growth in automatic multipoint locking systems, with strong engagement around FUHR’s autosafe 835P and autosafe 837P locks. Designed to combine automatic locking with certified panic functionality, these systems respond to increasing demand for solutions that balance security, ease of use and compliance within a single locking system.

Visitors to the stand were also introduced to the upcoming Panic Function D option for the autosafe 835P, designed for doors used exclusively as emergency exits. This configuration allows the outside handle to control the latch, therefore if the escape route is used, fire rescue services can get in without a key.

Looking ahead, FUHR also presented the multisafe 872P, a new panic multipoint locking system designed for use with electric strikes. The lock features hook locking points, increasing the security potential for the door and also removes the need for a FZG free-movement cylinder, simplifying installation while maintaining the performance standards expected for modern door systems.

Another key discussion point was said to be the growing interest in smart access and electromechanical locking solutions. FUHR demonstrated its SmartAccess system, which allows doors to be operated via smartphone while controlling the full multipoint locking mechanism – a distinction that continues to drive conversations around security and functionality in comparison to retrofit smart cylinder lock alternatives.

Alongside this, FUHR also launched a new fingerprint scanner, further expanding the range of access control options available within the SmartAccess range.

In addition to product innovation, many conversations focused on practical specification challenges, including how to integrate access control with compliant emergency escape, and when doors should be specified as fail-safe rather than fail-secure. FUHR’s autosafe 837 range was highlighted as a solution capable of addressing these requirements within a single modular system.

With 1,022 exhibitors from 117 countries and more than 75,000 visitors, the four-day event reportedly provided an exceptional platform for networking and gave CiiLOCK a valuable opportunity to present its hardware solutions to a truly global audience.

The morning was said to be a brilliant mix of familiar faces and new connections, with guests exploring the showroom, chatting over bacon butties from local supplier Northern Delights, and getting hands-on with an impressive lineup of products.

On show were the VEKA Omnia and Feinstruktur ranges, the Ultraframe HUP, the Soudal sundries range, the Comp Door composite collection, and the Spitfire S100 aluminium door — conversations about all of them reportedly flowed, alongside discussions about upcoming projects and how the GHW Windows team can best support its trade partners going forward.

Supplier representatives from Comp Door, Ultraframe, Soudal, and VEKA/Modplan were all on hand throughout the morning, sharing their product knowledge and expertise — adding so much to the morning.

To round things off with a bit of fun, guests were invited to guess how many mini eggs were in the jar for a chance to win a Hotel Chocolat Easter hamper. The winner was announced as Steve, who had the closest guess and went home very happy indeed!

Installers are invited to join the Hörmann Truedor team for an informal early morning get-together over coffee and bacon sandwiches, where the focus will be firmly on new business opportunities.
