Architectural Glazing Careers Festival 2025

The Architectural Glazing Careers Festival 2025 is set to launch in London on May 12, 2025. In collaboration with Building Our Skills and Student Venture, The Institute of Architectural Glazing is proud to announce the Architectural Glazing Careers Festival 2025, taking place on 20 May 2025 at the AluK Design Centre in London, from 10am to 4pm. This inaugural event marks a significant milestone for the newly formed Institute of Architectural Glazing — a ground breaking initiative built by the industry, for the industry.
The Festival: Inspiring the Next Generation of Glazing Talent aims to engage and inform the next generation of professionals in architectural glazing, façades, and fenestration. With more than 120 job roles across 20 career families, the sector offers rich opportunities in areas such as design, engineering, sustainability, and project delivery.
Attendees will:
- Meet the professionals shaping the future of the built environment
- Explore diverse career pathways and emerging trends in façade and glazing technologies
- Attend expert-led seminars hosted by industry leaders
- Network with employers, peers, and academic partners during an engaging social wrap-up
The Institute of Architectural Glazing: A New Era of Career Pathways
The festival serves as the launchpad for the Institute’s mission: to build a clear, structured, and sustainable education-to-career pipeline for the architectural glazing sector. There is currently no recognised standard or linear route for students to enter this field — a gap the Institute intends to fill by working closely with colleges, universities, and industry stakeholders.
“Our goal is to produce a new generation of talent who arrive trained, capable, and ready to contribute from day one,” said David Lonergan, one of the Institute’s founding members. “This festival is just the beginning.”
Meet the Founding Team Behind the Institute
The Institute of Architectural Glazing is led by an experienced team of industry professionals:
- William Sharman – A 30-year veteran known for innovation in structural and “healthy” glass technologies
- Simon Culmer – Operational leader with a background in secure telecoms and curriculum development
- David Lonergan – Connector and strategist with over 18 years in architectural glazing
- Daniel Rickman – Technical expert with a focus on sustainable retrofit and façade engineering
- James Philpot – Design leader with nearly two decades of façade and glazing experience
With plans to host the festival twice a year, the Institute is committed not only to raising awareness but also to identifying academic programs and partnerships aligned with its vision.
