AluK champions Women in Fenestration with WFN support

AluK has signed up as a Founding Corporate Member of the Women in Fenestration Network (WFN) – giving its backing to the new initiative created to support, connect and champion women in the industry.
AluK’s HR Director, Rebecca Jones, said the launch event held in Bristol at the start of July struck just the right note in terms of giving women a place to network and share experiences and setting out an exciting programme of practical training and mentoring opportunities which could help to drive positive change.
She said: “The fenestration industry has come a long way over the past decade in terms of recruiting and rewarding female talent – exemplified by the fact that AluK now has a 50/50 male/female board.
“But there’s still some way to go, and the WFN initiative acknowledges that in a way which is both practical and encouraging.
“The launch event made clear that the WFN needs corporate backing if it is going to be able to do more than just give women more visibility, and we’re delighted that AluK has been able to help provide that.
“As an HR specialist, I particularly like the fact that the WFN will offer development opportunities and a structured support network via an inspirational mentorship scheme, and we will certainly be encouraging our own and our customers’ staff to sign up as both mentors and mentees.”
Alex Gallop, AluK’s Head of Marketing who was also at the launch event added: “WFN’s vision is to help develop future leaders for this industry, and with plenty of high profile corporate and individual supporters now signed up, it really does have the potential to make a real impact.
“AluK and the team here will be looking to get involved even beyond the mentorship scheme – with participation at events, training opportunities and podcast content.”
