Dufeu IT team raises £1,000 in Amazing Northampton Run

A team from Dufeu IT has recently took on the Amazing Northampton Run, raising more than £1,000 for the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society (NASS), while flying the flag for a cause close to their hearts.

The Wellingborough-based IT and cybersecurity company entered runners into both the half marathon and relay events, with the fundraising effort supporting people living with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), a long-term inflammatory condition that primarily affects the spine and joints.

For Dufeu IT’s Michelle Du-feu, the challenge carried particular significance.

After years of symptoms before receiving a diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis, supporting NASS and raising awareness of the condition became a key motivation behind the team’s fundraising campaign.

Representing Dufeu IT in the half marathon were Michelle Du-feu, Greg Du-feu and Luke Moloney.

The relay team consisted of Julie-Ann Hammond, Iannick Pinto and Finley Shroll, while Emma Legg, Emma Edwards and Lucy Birt also joined the fundraising effort.

Adding some extra personality to the event, the relay runners embraced the company’s cybersecurity background by taking on the course in hacker-themed fancy dress.

The costumes proved popular with spectators and fellow participants, creating plenty of smiles along the route.

Michelle said: “Several years ago, completing a half marathon would have felt impossible. Crossing the finish line was a huge personal milestone for me, but knowing we were raising money for NASS and helping raise awareness of axial spondyloarthritis made it even more meaningful.

“The support from everyone who donated, cheered us on and took part was incredible.”

Julie-Ann said: “Running in fancy dress is not easy, but it was a fantastic way to support the Amazing Northampton Half Marathon and raise money for a great cause.”

Greg added: “The Amazing Northampton Run is always such a great day and gets better every year!

“Well done to the runners, organisers and sponsors… and of course the Dufeu IT team for smashing it!”

As well as supporting NASS, the team praised the event itself for the way it brings together local businesses, community groups, volunteers and runners from across Northamptonshire.

Michelle concluded: “The Amazing Northampton Run is such a fantastic community event. The atmosphere around the course was brilliant, and it’s wonderful to see so many people coming together to support charities, challenge themselves and celebrate Northamptonshire.”
