Two PiGs in a Pod – Matt Thomas
In this episode of Two PiGs in a Pod, George is joined by Haffner MD and Owner, Matt Thomas, for a proper deep dive into his journey through the glazing industry.
Matt shares how it all began, from growing up around the business with his dad Dave, to heading off down a completely different path training to become a barrister, before eventually finding his way into the industry.
What followed was a quick rise through the ranks, from working on second-hand machines, to sales, to working side-by-side with his dad, helping to grow the business, and ultimately taking over the reins as Managing Director four years ago.
He opens up about the realities of working with family, the pressures and pride that come with it, and how that family-first culture still runs right through Haffner today.
There are some great stories along the way too, including what it meant to deliver one of the biggest stands at FIT Show 2025 and how moments like that reflect just how far the business has come.
Matt also talks PiGs, and why he was the one who first suggested taking the network event over to Belfast. He explains what makes the city such a brilliant destination, what the industry can expect from the event, and throws in a few top recommendations for where to go while you’re there.
And, of course, no episode would be complete without putting Matt through the This or That round.
