Steve Hopwood’s Edale Skyline hike: Overcoming flu to succeed

Despite battling the flu in the two weeks before the challenge, Steve Hopwood, UK General Manager of CiiLOCK Engineering, completed the full gruelling 21 mile Edale Skyline hike in just eight hours!

Steve said: “There were moments when I felt that I couldn’t complete it, but I reminded myself of who I was raising the money for and pushed on; with encouragement from my wingman, Andy Charlesworth, and the support of other members of the hiking group I made it round.”

Steve didn’t just conquer the physical challenge; he also smashed his fundraising target of £1,000 and has reached a total so far of £1,285 and counting.

The CiiLOCK team had the pleasure of meeting Hayley Charlesworth, Founder of Harry’s Pals, at the recent FIT Show, where she confirmed that this amount would pay for three families to receive 10 therapy/counselling sessions, offering vital support and coping strategies to them after their child has received a diagnosis of a life limiting illness or disability.
