PiGs’ George Lewis dissects Glazing Summit 2026

The 2026 Glazing Summit once again brought the industry together at the Coventry Building Society Arena to discuss the challenges, opportunities and big questions facing the sector.
And if there was one message that came through loud and clear throughout the day, it was that the industry has plenty to think about over the next 12 months, both good and bad.
Artificial intelligence (AI) was arguably the most talked-about topic, featuring in almost every presentation and panel discussion.
With technology continuing to develop at pace, it was interesting to hear how AI could influence the way businesses operate, improve efficiencies and approach the future.
Elton Boocock’s presentation, AI: Where Are We, was a particular highlight, warning that whilst he is pro-AI, it needs to be used in the right way and actually make a positive difference to our sector, rather than just be used for quickness.
However, technology was only part of the conversation. The tough outlook for the sector was another recurring theme, with discussions highlighting the importance of adapting to changing market conditions while ensuring the industry does not become caught in a race to the bottom.
Maintaining and even improving standards and recognising the value of quality products or service will remain vital if businesses are to build sustainable futures.
Several sessions stood out for me, including the Fit for the Future panel featuring the GGF’s John Mannell, Building Our Skills’ Mark Handley, Hatfield Installations’ Luke Hatfield and FDM’s Nicola John.
But alongside that, another panel discussion, What’s Next for Fenestration, with Keystone Market Research’s Charlotte Hawkes, Reynaers UK’s John McComb and Rilla’s Mitchell Trevis was also interesting to see how different sides of the supply chain are dealing with the future.
Both discussions offered valuable perspectives on where the industry is heading and what businesses should be considering now.
The Leading Through Uncertainty panel, chaired by Lasco Marketing’s John Warren, alongside Flat Glass Solutions’ David Cahill, Atlas Aluminium’s Jamie Newall and Jade Engineering’s Sean Mackey, was a further highlight, addressing the challenges of navigating an uncertain landscape and how to stay competitive, in the right way.
Away from the business discussions, it was also great to hear from motivational speaker Shaun Wallace, best known as one of the Chasers on ITV’s The Chase, who brought a different perspective to the day and shared his life experiences, from failing at school, to becoming a lawyer, to winning Mastermind and then becoming the “Dark Destroyer” on The Chase.
But of course, the Glazing Summit is about much more than what happens on stage. The networking before, during and after the conference was fantastic, providing another opportunity for myself and people from across the supply chain to catch up, and build relationships
As a Supporting Organisation, PiGs was proud to be involved in an event that brings the industry together for important conversations.
Congratulations to the organisers on another thought-provoking summit. I’m already looking forward to seeing what next year brings.
